Have you been playing poker for a while, but still haven’t made it far in tournaments? Can’t get past the first stage and despair when you see the blinds growing and your chips going down? Do not freak out! Many beginners go through this.
Playing a tournament is no simple task. This requires endurance, patience, calm and other skills that, when we are starting in the sport, we do not have full control. To help you on this journey, we made this post with tips for online poker tournaments. Check out.
Be tough
The first tip could not be another. Keep in mind that an online poker tournament lasts an average of 8 hours. If you are not 100% physically fit to face this marathon, it is better not to even spend your money.
Playing an entire dominoqq tournament is an exhausting journey both physically and mentally. Remember that in the end you will need to have the same concentration as the beginning. Keep your sleep up to date before entering the tournament, and forget about that romantic idea of poker movies, in which players smoke and drink while playing.
Do not drink anything that can alter your level of concentration and reasoning, and eat well, as hunger is a strong ally of lack of concentration.
Don’t be in a hurry
As we saw, a tournament is like a resistance race, it takes calm and patience at the beginning to leave the sprint to the end. Don’t be desperate to play all the time, wanting to see all the flops.
Work your starting hands well and play in position to read your opponents. Getting desperate and impatient can get you out of the tournament much sooner than you intended.
Maintain emotional control
Don’t panic if things aren’t going the way you expected. Keep your line of play if you want to stay as long as possible in the tournament. Be cool and calculating so that you don’t lose everything because of a hand played in a hurry.
Watch your tilt. If you happen to lose that “winning hand” on the river, take a deep breath, take a spin and focus on your game. Do not try to retrieve the lost chips in an awkward way, nor take revenge on the opponent who won your hand.
Know who you’re playing against
Keep an eye on your opponents’ strategies and play style. When you are not participating in a hand, do not lose concentration. The more information you get from opponents, the better it will be to outline your strategies. If you can define the style of each player at the table well, you can even choose who you want to play against, further reducing the risks.
